Serra Town Council has launched the call for entries for the 11th Pascual Navarro Digital Photography Competition. This initiative once again invites participants to discover and share, through photography, the environmental, scenic, natural and cultural riches of the municipality and the Sierra Calderona.
This year’s edition features two notable changes. Firstly, the competition is being held in the autumn, rather than in the spring as in previous years. Secondly, the entry procedure has also changed: photographs must be submitted via the council’s online registration system, preferably through the Town Council’s electronic portal.
The entry period will run from 1 October until 23.59 on 15 October 2026. The full terms and conditions of the competition can be found on the noticeboard of the Serra Town Council website and on the municipal tourism website.
The Mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón, highlights the importance of continuing to promote a competition now in its eleventh year: “The Pascual Navarro Photography Competition is an opportunity to see Serra through fresh eyes and to discover, through images, everything that makes our town special. Each edition allows us to showcase our landscapes, our natural and cultural heritage and, above all, the perspective of the people who live in and enjoy Serra”.
The competition is open to any individual, and each participant may submit just one photograph, which must have been taken during 2026 within the municipal boundaries of Serra. The photographs must relate to the environmental and cultural values of Serra and the Sierra Calderona Natural Park.
The winning photographs will be decided by public vote
Once the entry deadline has passed, all photographs received will be published in an album on the Serra Town Council’s official Facebook page. The images will be numbered in the order in which they were received and may be shared by their authors.
Voting will begin on 21 October and will remain open until 11.59 pm on 3 November. The photograph receiving the most ‘likes’ will be the winner, whilst the second most voted-for photograph will be named a runner-up. The names of the winners will be announced on 4 November via the council’s website.
The competition offers a first prize of 100 euros, in the form of a gift voucher and a certificate, and a prize of 50 euros and a certificate for the runner-up photograph. The gift vouchers must be spent in local shops and restaurants.
With this call for entries, Serra Town Council is continuing an initiative that aims to encourage public participation and highlight the town’s environmental, scenic, natural and cultural heritage. At the same time, it keeps alive the memory of Pascual Navarro, a resident of Serra and the town’s photographic ambassador, after whom the competition is named.
