The municipality of Serra has successfully celebrated this weekend the 53rd Day of the Cirera, framed within the 19th Fira de la Calderona, an emblematic event in the region of Camp de Túria that has brought together thousands of people around the natural, cultural and gastronomic wealth of Serra and the municipalities of the Natural Park of Serra Calderona.

The main event of the Day of the Cirera was attended by mayors, councilors of neighboring towns and military authorities of the Jaime I base in Bétera. The general director of Diversity, Stephane Soriano and the deputy and mayoress of Puçol, Paz Carceller, were also present at a festival that is of regional tourist interest since 2022.

The queen of the festivities, Claudia Morales, and her court of honor, were in charge of distributing the cherry that the consistory gives to all the people who visit the town. A central act that has been preceded by a weekend with heavy activities for all audiences and the involvement of the neighborhood, local businesses and groups of the municipality nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona.
“The Fira de la Calderona and the Dia de la Cirera represent the essence of Serra. The cirera is more than a fruit, it is tradition, it is memory, identity and pride” said the mayoress of Serra, Alicia Tusón. Tusón adds: “the Fira serves to promote Serra and other villages of the Calderona as a destination for nature, gastronomic and cultural tourism”.
The Fira de la Calderona brings together municipalities from three Valencian counties – Camp de Túria, Camp de Morvedre and Alto Palancia – located between the provinces of València and Castelló. This year Marines, Olocau, Nàquera, Albalat dels Tarongers, Altura and Serra were present, as well as the office of the Parc Natural de la Serra Calderona, the Mancomunitat Camp de Túria.

A very intense weekend that has had a market of local products and artisans, theatrical performances with Maria la Calderona, the actress who gives her name to the saw, as the protagonist, guided tours of the museum of l’Oli and the tower of the Ermita, musical performances, parades with dolçaina and tabals, craft workshops, children’s games, master class in traditional Valencian dances, performance of the Valencian singer Colomet, and music to the rhythm of the batu (traditional Valencian drum), parades with the dolçaina and tabals, craft workshops, children’s games, master class of traditional Valencian dances, the performance of the Valencian singer Colomet, and music to the rhythm of batukada, with the local group Baketa Batuka, the group of tabal i dolçaina and the bands of the municipality.
