The municipality of Serra has become part of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations of the Valencian Community (Red DTI-CV). This membership certifies that the municipality complies with the standards of quality, innovation, sustainability, accessibility, and governance established by the DTI methodology. It recognizes the work carried out in recent years in areas such as strategic planning, digitization, public-private collaboration, and recognition of natural, cultural, and gastronomic heritage.

With this incorporation, Serra reinforces its position as an innovative and sustainable tourist destination, aligned with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and with new trends in the sector.

The mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón, stressed that “joining the Smart Tourist Destinations Network is recognition of the efforts we have made in recent years to consolidate Serra as a tourist destination that respects our natural and cultural environment.”

She added that “with this network, we will be able to access new planning and management tools, share experiences with other destinations, and further improve the quality of Serra’s tourist offering. We are aware that the future of tourism lies in innovation and sustainability, and this is the path we will follow.”

Over the last eight years, Serra Town Council has promoted numerous initiatives to consolidate the municipality as a quality tourist destination: from improving and signposting routes and trails to creating tourist products linked to historical and cultural heritage, promoting local cuisine, and implementing digital tools that enhance the visitor experience.

World Tourism Day

At the same time, the municipality nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona is joining in the World Tourism Day celebrations with a theatrical tour entitled “La Calderona tiene nombre de mujer” (The Calderona is named after a woman). This is a tour of Serra’s monumental and ethnological heritage featuring the figure of the actress from Madrid de los Austrias and bandit who gave her name to the mountain range.
