Serra Town Council has installed Braille signage and an accessible audio guide system on the Sculpture Route, reinforcing the inclusive tourism offering of this municipality nestled in the heart of Calderona. The urban itinerary highlights the town’s monumental and ethnological heritage.

The project has included the renovation of the panels for the seven sculptures —La Calderona, La Aguadora, Sant Roc, La Espartera, El Señor de la Vila, El Cartujo and El Rey Yahia— and the three general panels for the route. In addition to information in Valencian, Spanish and English, there is also Braille and QR codes to access the audio guide. This completes an accessible and autonomous signage system for all visitors.

The mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón, emphasised that ‘this project represents another step forward in our work to promote accessible, inclusive tourism that respects our heritage. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the history and culture of Serra on equal terms.’ She added that ‘investing in accessibility improves the quality of our tourist destination and has a positive impact on the local economy.’

This initiative is part of an inclusive tourism strategy that includes universal routes to the castle with tracked vehicles for people with reduced mobility and interpreter guides for deaf and blind people. In this way, Serra is strengthening the participation of all people, raising awareness of diversity and consolidating a model of sustainable and responsible tourism.

The total investment was €8,318.75, with €3,341.66 subsidised by the Provincial Diputacio of Valencia through the Impulsem Turismo Inversiones.

The Town Council continues to work strategically on tourism with the Tourism Master Plan and the DTI (Smart Tourist Destination) Plan, with the aim of positioning Serra as an accessible, sustainable and innovative tourist municipality, in accordance with the new regulations in force.
