The 5th Vicente Granero Professional Pumpkin Stew Contest – Vila de Serra, held on Monday, October 20, in the Plaza de la S.M. La Primitiva, was a resounding success, bringing together leading local culinary professionals and numerous visitors for an unmissable event within the 4th Serra 2025 Gastronomic Days.
In the pumpkin stew category, first prize went to El Racó de Meliana Restaurant, which stood out for its balance between tradition and technique, surprising the jury with its deep and authentic flavor.
Second prize went to La Garrofera restaurant in Serra, while third place went to La Mar Salà restaurant in Cullera.
In the dessert category, first prize was awarded to Nou Rossinyol restaurant in Nàquera; second prize went to Miguel y Juani restaurant in l’Alcúdia; and third prize went to El Mosaic restaurant in Meliana.
This competition is part of the IV Carabassa Gastronomic Days, which are being held until October 26, with nine local establishments participating. Eleven restaurants participated in the professional competition: Nou Chaparral Restaurant, Miguel y Juani Restaurant, Binhui Food Restaurant, Juan XXIII Restaurant, Chef Amadeo Restaurant, La Garrofera Restaurant, El Mosaic Restaurant, Nou Rossinyol Restaurant, Racó de Meliana Restaurant, Bon Aire Restaurant, and La Mar Sala Restaurant.
The jury, composed of a housewife knowledgeable about the dish and four chefs chaired by Fernando Navarro, had the difficult task of evaluating the entries submitted in the two categories of the contest: olla amb carabassa (pumpkin stew) and dessert with autumn fruit.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón Sánchez, who personally congratulated the winners and highlighted the importance of promoting local cuisine and products: “These gastronomic days are a unique opportunity to showcase our cuisine and local products. Every year, this event shows us that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand, offering culinary experiences that make us proud as a municipality.”
The Serra Gastronomic Days continue to consolidate their position as a meeting place and showcase for local cuisine, where tradition and innovation combine with the talent of professionals in the sector. Attendees enjoyed a festive atmosphere, full of local flavors and activities linked to the culture and gastronomy of this municipality nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona.
