The Fira de la Calderona-Dia de la Cirera de Serra has been declared a festival of regional tourist interest in the Valencian Community by the Generalitat Valenciana. The recognition comes in a year in which the Dia de la Cirera celebrates its 50th edition and the Calderona Fair its 16th. The festival will be held on June 4 and 5, after two years of stoppage as a result of the pandemic.

The Day of the Cirera was born to promote the most typical product of Serra, the cherry. A product that has been losing weight as a result of the abandonment of the traditional trades of the mountains and that has been evolving to be framed within Fira de la Calderona, which is the great showcase of the tourist, gastronomic and commercial offer of the town of Serra, nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona. “We welcome the distinction with great joy and enthusiasm in a year in which we will celebrate 50 years of celebration.

The Fira de la Calderona-Dia de la Cirera is one of the best projections that Serra has abroad, both in a touristic and cultural sense. A party in which the entire population is involved to show the best of us”, says the mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón. The Fira de la Calderona also wants to show the environmental and cultural values of the mountains and the tourist potential of all the towns that make up the Calderona territory and that also have the opportunity to be present at the fair to present all its attractions.

Three regions, Camp de Túria, Camp de Morvedre and Alto Palancia, between the provinces of Valencia and Castellón, under the umbrella of the territory that makes up the Sierra Calderona. The programming of the Fira de la Calderona, which is visited every year by more than 7,000 people, doubling the population, is very intense. In addition to the market for local products and artisans, there are performances and guided tours, musical performances, parades, traditional crafts workshops, a meeting of dolçainers and tabaleters, the central act of which is the distribution of cherries to people who visit the town.

The recognition has been published today in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana and was notified to the consistory a few days ago. The declaration of the Fira de la Calderona –Dia de la Cirera as a festival of tourist interest in the Valencian Community will be registered in the Special Registry of festivals, itineraries, publications and audiovisual works of tourist interest in the Valencian Community, first section.
