We’ll go for a walk, learn about bats and enjoy some lovely views, both by day and by night.
On Saturday 11th and Friday 17th July, we’ll have the chance to watch the bats that live in the Soterranya Cave (Serra) as they emerge. This cave is home to a significant colony of bats, comprising up to five different species. To ensure their conservation, access is restricted by a fence to prevent disturbance.
From the meeting point at the car park of the Pla de Lucas leisure area (Portacoeli, Serra), situated at the crossroads of the CV-238 road at Náquera/Serra and the CV-331 Bétera–Portacoeli road, we will drive to the route that will take us on foot to the surroundings of the Soterranya Cave; there, whilst we wait for nightfall, we will talk about the bats and have dinner as we await their exit.
Date: 11 July 2026 and 17 July
Meeting point and time: Portacoeli car park at the junction of the Bétera–Portacoeli road (CV-331) and the Portacoeli–Náquera/Serra road (CV-238). 7.30 pm.
Duration of the activity: 4–5 hours
Useful information: from the meeting point, we will travel by car to the surroundings of the cave along a forest track of approximately 3 kilometres. From there, we will walk along a section of path to reach the entrance to the cave.
